2PR FM needs your support for laser turntable fund
Listeners,
We recently celebrated our seventh anniversary, and continue to be one of the longest serving internet radio stations, since it's beginnings in the early 00's. Many other stations have come and gone, as 2PR continues to play more of the 70's 80's music that you've come to love. As many of you might be aware, 2PR FM has operated out of personal finances.
You would also be aware that 2PR FM continues to improve it's music mix with sourcing rare CDs and records, and expands the way you listen. You can now hear your favourite retro music in three different formats; Windows low band, Windows broadband, and the great convenience of podcasting.
With over 2,000 records, none of which are available on CD, we are looking forward to moving into the next phase of our improvement; the purchase of a Laser Turntable. This piece of equipment has the incredible ability to play records via laser rather then a needle, which eliminates physical wear, but ultimately makes records that are well worn, sound like new again. This is possible as the laser reads the part of the groove that has not been touch by the needle.
The ultimate experience that makes it worth the money, is the reality of listening to a record with no high-end distortion, which is caused by the stylus point's inability in retrieving all the information in the high frequency range, like percussions, synthesizers, voices, and etc. It also eliminates the subtle "wow" sounds resulting from records that are slightly warped, pour pressings, or are damaged from sunlight.
More information on this incredible piece of equipment can be found at; http://www.elpj.com/
Unfortunately though, just like any great step forward, it is going to cost my life..... no no, just kidding. :) :) but it is going to set me back, on what you could say is a horribly large amount of money..... in the facinity of $15,000 US (currently now for sale for $9,990 US)
In the time of running the station, I have always been reluctant to ask for donations, as my main aim has, and always will be, to have a free station without subscriptions, fees, and restrictions. I am a strong believer that all information should be free, whether it be in a written, audio or video form.
A quote from the website http://www.elpj.com/ "Welcome to the online home of the Laser Turntable! This technological marvel plays vinyl records with master tape sound quality and no wear. The Laser Turntable is perfect for record collectors, archivists and vinyl enthusiasts alike."
With all this said, (I absolutely hate begging), I would very much appreciate any financial donations in any size. The sooner I can raise the money, the sooner I can invest in a laser turntable, which will result in the first Australian radio station to play records in such a revolutionary way.
Within the next few weeks, I will upload some sample songs from the promotional disc, as the music will speak for itself. The end result; you the listeners will hear those non-cd back-trax like never before.
